Ashern Research works across biotechnology, genetics, biomedical devices and environmental technology. The common thread is not a field but a method: choose questions an experiment can settle, run it properly, publish the result.
What we do
Our work concentrates in four areas: genome editing, synthetic biology, biomedical devices and environmental solutions. Most projects sit at the boundary between two of them, which is why the team is built across molecular biology, computational genomics, materials science and device engineering rather than around a single discipline.
We run our own programs and we partner. Collaborations with academic groups, clinical teams and industry make up a large share of the portfolio, and we sponsor selected external research where an independent result would move a field.
What we will not do
We do not commit resources to a program on the strength of a story. Every project starts with a pre-registered question and the criteria that would count as an answer, and it earns further investment only by meeting them.
We publish negative results. A clean null saves the next group a year, and a field that only reports successes is not one anyone should trust.
